TERRIBLE CUSTOMER SERVICE:(. I used to go here a lot but all of that changed today. I normally order chicken breast with beans, rice, and sweat plan-tens. The same waitress (short blond haired, older woman who always takes my order) took my order today. I get the same type of chicken (boned, chicken breast). Well, today, she makes me wait almost 20 minutes for some grilled boneless chicken that was overpriced.

The manager, at least that's what they told me, (a darker skinned Afro Latina) was there and she was borderline NASTY. She refused to appease me and put all of the blame on me. There was another guy (deep accent, dark hair and eye brows, answers the phones) who previously told me that I can always get the chicken breast there (the way I like it with bone) but today he totally acted like it was all my fault that they gave me some elaborate over cooked grilled chicken. My order was jacked up and it was all my fault (according to them) bottom line.

These people are comfortable, arrogant, and cocky because, apparently, business is booming. They don't seem to understand that loyalty is what keeps you in the game. They've lost my loyalty today. I will never eat there again.

People like them don't deserve loyal customers like me.

El Merengue is TERRIBLE!!!!! AND A RIP OFF!!. If they had no stars that's what I would've given them. They are absolutely terrible, I've eaten in a lot of Dominican Restaurants and I must say this is by far the worst I've ever had. I ordered for delivery and waited about an hour and a half before my food was delivered, and come to find out they forgot half of my order and only brought me my steak with no rice nor beans and forgot my maduros. What kind of place will not include the rice and beans with the order? When I called to complain they didn't include the rice and beans, they wanted to charge me an additional $15 dollars, after I had paid $25 bucks for a meal that didn't even INCLUDE RICE AND BEANS!!! This is my first time ever writing a review but they were that terrible that I took time out of my busy day to alert everyone because I ordered from that restaurant based on the reviews that I read on this website. Those reviews were probably written by individuals who probably work at that restaurant. Definitely would never eat there again!…

No problems for me. I was at El Merengue last night and had a wonderful meal. of chicken with yuca and onions, the food was great, the portions was above average and the staff was attentive to all my needs, which was mostly presidente lights. -- I do not work the restaurant or have any affiliation with their management. I am sure they make mistakes some of the staff only speak Spanish,--since it is a Dominican restaurant, if you can not handle that fact maybe you go the Burger King and order a number #1. --…

El Merengue Restaurant gave me food with ROACHES in it!. The service was terrible and the food smelled foul. When I got home I checked it before feeding it to my children smell and THANK GOD!....There were ROACHES crawling around in my oxtails.......I threw it out and asked had this had this happened to anyone else around. I was told that they always gave their worst food to Puerto Ricans, but that was about it........If you value your life don't eat there.....TERRIBLE......I will also forward this to NJ live, and the Star ledger....Thank god I'm a journalist.…
