Not worth the price. The place looks nice, and the view of the lake is pretty. But the food is substandard. I had the seafood special ($22) and it was one of the blandest dishes I'd ever eaten. And it's overpriced. Sports bar atmosphere and black tie prices. $9 for a martini? I won't go back and I wouldn't recommend it. Staff was friendly, but we were turned off by the nose pierciings.
best customer service. I would like to start out by saying i had a great time at the BLUE RIBBON the other night. The moment we walked in the door we were greated with a smile and prompt service. The meal was great and the service was outstanding. So i came on this sight to write a review and i noticed a review written by kittyvon which i thought was humorous. First of all they all must live in upstate NY because beer and alcohol prices are outrageous in the city and he was comparing Blue Ribbon as being expensive. Their is something wrong when a person hat is more expensive than someones outfit and these same people think drinks are expensive at the Blue Ribbon. Also there are two huge parking lots on both sides of the building why would a bouncer have someone park in front. Last but not least on fridays there is a no hat policy every other day you can were a hat. It seems like these people should stay in the city because they are to high class for the country.
truly accomodating staff and superb service.
In Sussex County, every last good place has closed to the new franchising industry breaking into our area. But, the Blue Ribbon has made a mark in the restaurant industry! They do not compare themselves to any business and uniquely stand alone & offer a variety of foods with a very generous portion and fair pricing!
We started with the munch bucket sampler and for $9.95 four of us feasted! The presentation came in an edible bucket. We also got 2 dozen steamers and I can honestly say they were piping hot and some of the biggest clams ever eaten. The server was accomodating to bringing us bread, and refreshing our drinks, to making sure our every need was met. Our soup came next, and it was gourmet with chunks of seafood in every bite, (seafood chowder). Our salads were delicious and by this time we didn't know where we were going to put our main entree! We were astonished by the portion sizes and ate as much as we could and took the rest of the meal home! In all my eating years I still talk about the size of the Chicken Parm that was presented to us! We finished with some after dinner drinks and will definately return to try some of the wonderful desserts that passed by us! We were checked upon several times by the owner, his wife, his sister and the manager! Each making sure everything was up to par! This is a real friendly atmoshere and we did not feel rushed at all and cannot wait to return again! Thank goodness for bringing a little bit of the city to us here in Sussex County without having to commute and pay high city prices!
Best clams and steak in town. Blue Ribbon is the perfect place to be if you like delicious food at very reasonable prices. We go faithfully every week. Kid- friendly and great service. Last, but not least the unique outside dining is rare to find in Sussex County.
Worst Customer Service Experience and Then Some....
Where should I begin... We went to this atrocity of a bar on a saturday night. A group of 4 midthirties New Yorkers. Two men, two women. We were dressed appropriate for a nice dinner because we were coming from Restaurant La Tour.
This is how it starts. My friend is trying to park his SUV in front of Blue Ribbon when one of the bouncers come over and suggest him that he should park his car upfront. So my friend gets back in the car and parks it as suggested. We come to the door. And another bouncer tells my friend to take his "f'ing hat" (his words not mine) off. Or we will not be admitted. Mind you my friend is wearing a very stylish hat (he is in the fashion industry) that costs more than most people's entire outfits! The bouncer tells us "this is a New York club. SO you take your hat off" (Yes. You tarzan me jane and excuse me but we are in New Jersey not New York) Then the owner comes over and tells us to move our car. Geeze, your bouncer told us to park there! So we move the car again because the owner's lady friend always parks there. Then the bouncer comes back over and starts verbally harassing my friend about his hat. At this point the hat is just sitting quietly on the bar next to our ontouched drinks. So you see where this is going. And all this time we complied quietly. So we just left, leaving our untouched drinks and a huge tip on the bar. Not to mention the bad taste in our mouths. All in all: The owner and the bouncers treat customers very poorly. In the hospitality industry, it should be priority to keep your clients satisfied not to keep them perpetually harassed. Over-priced drinks, an uncalled for New York wannabe attitude in the middle of New Jersey farmlands and a cocky management team just about sums up this otherwise nicely constructed restaurant/bar. The architecture is ok. On another note, there were a LOT OF Abercrombie-clad young ones at the bar, that really made us feel like teachers at the school dance. What's up with that?
A surprise find.
Had the assortment of appetizers, delish!
Ordered the filet stuffed with crabmeat and shrimp. Very tasty. Crabmeat was creamy and light, shrimp was done to perfection.
Being from NY and going to very pricey places, this was a nice find. Prices are average, the service was good, the food delicious....check it out. You will not be disappointed.
Not very good!!. Tried 2x in the last year with the same result. Overcooked, dry burger the first time and an over cooked dry steak the second. Pretty bad when a so called "steakhouse" gives you well done food when you order medium rare. Also the drink and food prices are a little steep.Manager/owner could care less if the customer is satisfied. There are far better places in the area, don't waste your time at this dud.
