Kneel before Zod! Eccentric genius chef Zod Arifai cooks nearly every dish at the this small, brilliant, one-of-a-kind modern restaurant, the best in North Jersey by far.
Loved it!!!. The food was excellent. The best meal I've ever had in Montclair.
Love it.
We Had the tasting menu of nine courses for $75, ridiculously cheap but truly amazing. Its some of the best food i have ever had in the world (Per Se, Arzak, Le Bernardin, Jean Georges) its as good as any of those.
Oysters with Tarragon and horseradish, Black Olive cake,
Scallops with Vanilla Oil, Truffled pancake for amuse,
apple and foie gars cookie etc, all of this was incredibly good
Blu - Worth the Try. Blu, a NJ hot spot has a reputation for being the type of place you take someone you want to impress and for good reason. It's contemporary furnishings and chic decor create a calm vibe and the menu has something that will cater to all palets. To top it off its a BYOB - what more could you ask for?
Magical.
blu serves amazing food, everything else is relaxed,
sweetbreads, scallops, duck, hanger steak are as good as it gets
Spectacular Food. Food is as good as any 4 star restaurant in NYC at 1/4 the price. service is excellent . i eat here 8-10 times a year and have never had a less then a great meal.
Sad experience at Blu.
We went to Blu with another couple last Saturday, December 6.
I had called the previous Saturday and obtained a reservation for 7:00 pm, emphasizing the date as Dec 6
Imagine my embarrassment when the hostess said there was no record of my reservation.
Fortunately it was early enough for us to be seated at an available table, but even the young man who seated us kept insisting there was no reservation. He spoke as if I was trying to get away with something (whatever happened to the "customer is always right?")
I would have chalked this up to a one-time error, but a friend was seated near me an hour later and had the same experience. Sadly they had to wait almost 1/2 hour for a table to open up, and they were not happy. Evidently the front end is not as efficient as it should be.
While the food is very good, the service is unprofessional: our open wine bottle was tipped over onto the table during serving and plates were continually presented to the wrong diner.
Because of all the negatives, the experience was less than satisfying and we would not go back. There are too many other good restaurants in the area that do not lose reservations and better train the wait staff .
