“Excellent physical therapist and staff”
Superb treatment and excellent results!.
I was first referred to Neil Chernick, the owner of Access Physcial Therapy and Wellness in Armonk, with a diagnosis of severe stenosis in the lower spine. At that point the pain and numbness in my
legs was so severe, all my physical activities were impacted. Not only could I no longer take my long daily walks or yoga classes, I was also reduced to crawling up the stairs in my house since climbing upright hurt too much. Neil worked with me for six months, devising and teaching me various exercises that enabled me to become mobile again and essentially pain free. The results really have been dramatic. I've been able to return to a lot of my former activities. I can walk distances again, am back at the gym and am about to resume some gentle yoga classes. I continue to religiously do all of the exercises Neil taught me at home as I dare not backslide.
Neil Chernick is a superb physical therapist, the best I've ever had. Not only is he technically excellent, he is also energetic, innovative and empathetic. And he is a great listener. He asks questions and probes with follow-up questions and physical observations at the beginning of each session, making sure that he has really understood you. Then he uses your feedback and his updated evaluation immediately, often altering exercises on the spot, dropping some, adding or adapting others or fine tuning the intensity. This makes for very effective, efficient treatment sessions. Nothing at Access is "by the book," humdrum, mundane or boring. This dynamic highly individualized approach really keeps the patient engaged and interested. Neil is also a good psychologist; he knows how and when to cheer you on or, when necessary, to get you to buck up.
My referral to Access was probably the most valuable medical referral I've ever received. The office and entire staff are pleasant, professional and upbeat. Appointments are kept promptly and yet one never feels rushed out of a treatment room or away from the front desk. It is obvious that the owner's pursuit of excellence sets the tone for the whole practice.
Thank you, Neil!! Thank you Access! I am deeply grateful for your help and I will continue to recommend your services to anyone in need.
Postscript: Subsequently, when I had to return to Access for treatment for a broken wrist and injured shoulder, I knew what to expect and was appropriately optimistic. Neil's treatment for each of these injuries was as effective as the treatment for my spine had been and I am once again in good working order. The big difference in my life is that now I have three sequences of exercises to do at home instead of just one! And I don't mind one bit....…
Great Place - Great Job!.
Neil Chernick is without question the best physical therapist I have ever had, and I have had several. He treated me as individual, not just another patient, and with respect, compassion, and
understanding. He varies the routine at every visit, so it never get tedious, and can always find an alternative treatment if his patient is having difficulty with a particular exercise. He listens very carefully to his patients and does not refuse to treat something that is not specifically on the prescription when his patients come in with a new or additional problem He has highly effective techniques for dealing with pain, without medication, and he
teaches his patients special exercises that can relieve or eliminate chronic pain.He runs the office efficiently and never runs late. He gives his patients a substantial amount of time at every visit. He has a great sense of humor and makes the time fly by even as he is encouraging you to try something just a little harder than you've done in the past. I would highly recommend him whether your problem is simple or highly complex. You won't find anyone more dedicated to your recovery, more professional in his approach, and more interested in who you are and what your challenges are.…

Westchaester's Best Physical Therapy. Having been through several major injuries in my life due to sports, I knew I needed a great PT place after my recent back surgery. I needed to find a place that could not just rehabilitate my back, but get me back out onto the sports field. Access did a great job. Always professional. Always on time. Clean facilities. Really clear guidelines about what to do and what NOT to do - a very important aspect for someone who tends to push the limits! If you live in the area, there is not other place to go.…
Physical Therapy. Very convenient location. Friendly office staff. Takes a lot of insurance plans. Fairly mundane PT approach: 10 minitues of heat, 10-15 minutes of treatment.exercise, 10 minutes of ice. OK for typical injuries, but for more extenisve injuries go to a rehab facility where you can get a customized program.…
