What went wrong with this place?. Ugh! What happened here?? This place used to be good! Our party of 8 was seated at a 'private' table in its own little room. We were asked to remove our shoes. SURPRISE! Food debris on the floor -- lovely on the bare feet and socks! Sticky, dusty table added to the ambiance. The service was excruciatingly slow and it was definitely not crowded. After waiting over an hour our meals came one at a time over a period of about 20 minutes. We wanted to complain but the only staff around were very young (middle school?) girls who were frantically trying to stay on top of things. Never going back here!

Friendly and Fresh. Although at first this sushi hana does not appear to be as spectacular, the food is actually quite nice. My lover and I had split a few different rolls. The seating arrangement is not so comfortable, neither is the placement of the restaurant. Their menu was way too large for me to decipher, and when there is a menu as large, certain thoughts do come in mind. As always, I had a good time, and would recommend it to friends if they were in the mood for a nice, friendly BYOB as such.

My favorite!. Sushi Hana is my favorite sushi restaurant. (It's also BYOB)

Definately try the "Swimming Monkey Roll" or the "No Name Roll".

Also, when the weather is nice, ask to sit outside on the back patio.

Good food. At there recently and enjoyed the food and atmosphere.

Good Sushi, good food in general. Nice Presentation. Pleasant staff and clean.

best sushi and fabulous dining. I hve to disagree wth the bad reviews, i have been going to SUshi Hana forever and have never had a reaso to complain. The food is always fresh contrary to the remarks of having unfresh fish or whatever, they ar very careful with their food and quick to rectify mistakes. I would whole heartedly recommend going here for anyone who wants to enjoy top quality food. Its sad how some people say they can judge quality of food and complain about portions and what not, the fish should be proportional to the rice and be delicate, if u want a slab on a boulder than go somewhere else, prices fit the QUALITY.

Worst Sushi in Montclair. Horrific experience. Went to Sushi Hana a few weeks ago, and was less than impressed.

The service was terrible, we had 4 different adult servers, none of whom understood the menu. And we even had 2 different 10 year old girls serving us...I guess they were the waitresses children...totally inappropriate.

The miso soup was too salty, the lettuce was brown, and my soup spoon was burned from the dishwasher. While the fish seemed fresh, the quality was extremely mediocre. We left at least 5 pieces of sashimi uneaten because of the poor quality. The tuna was stringy and inedible. Surprisingly, the mackerel was good. There was also some sort of brown (yes, brown) fish that actually tasted good...i think it was tuna belly.

We should have left without paying after the crappy salad and soup...but I was overruled against my better judgment. Then I noticed the camera outside, and realized that they must have had lots of "dine and dash" problems...which isn't surprising considering the crappy quality of this restaurant.

Needless to say, we didn't leave a tip, and we will never go back again.

I'm confused by all of the good reviews. I guess the restaurant attracts a less sophisticated client? If you have a pretense of enjoying good sushi, don't come here, go to Nori or any other place in town. I still feel the need to brush my teeth to get the flavor out of my mouth from this experience. Feh.

worse shushi in town. Worsed!! Horrible! Disgusting! fish is not fresh!! i order Yellow tail sashimi the color of the fish lil bit BLACK!!! NASTY!!! horrible place, go to NORI the best shushi in town!! Sushi Hana is a ripped off people!!

Best Japanese food anywhere. best sushi and great creative menu, excellent service.......everytime I go I hav to order the mixed blue fin tuna and salmon tataki in truffle oil......mmm.... yummy! The Deep sashimi, Para Para, can't miss it...Try it out yourself you will know want I mean.....Don't forget to ask chef Irene for the latest special, I just had a "sushi sandwich", it was sooooooo good, An even more adventurous fish is the black cod, you may think it it is plain, but once it has touched your mouth, you'll feel the fish smooth, rich delicacy glazed with miso. My mouth is watering just thinking about it...mmmmmmmm...

Family Favorite. Sushi Hana is definitely the best japanese restaurant in town. the sheer variety of food, from filet mignon and teriyaki to amazingly fresh sushi. The atmosphere is warm and friendly. The names of the rolls are so creative like Lava, Samba, Swimming Monkey(topped with fried banana yumm) and Lurchy, the Lurchy Roll is rolled with white seaweed and served with a delicious wasabi sauce definitely irresistible. Its impossible to not love Sushi Hana once you eat there. They welcome families and large groups, its lovely not to rush through a meal. In nice weather they have a patio outside that is perfect for couples and is especially romantic in the evenings
