Tips for Montclair Power Equipment

January 15, 2013

They sold me what I needed when I needed it most. After Sandy I bought a generator at Montclair Power. While everyone else was price gouging these guys did me right. They delivered the machine, filled me up with gas, and did my first oil change. Once it was at my home I even got a lesson on how to start up and shut down the machine properly - Home Depot and Lowes won’t even help you bring stuff to the front of the store, I guess that is the difference between a big box store and a local business. I thanked everyone so much that day and promised I would post my positive experience ASAP, but of course my internet access was down for 12 days so it slipped my mind, but alas I can say I’ve fulfilled my promise! I give them 5 stars!!!!! My wife, my kids, and I thank you!

Awesome place. I am finding it difficult to figure out why some people have an issue with Montclair Power. The staff there could not be anymore accomodating. I purchased a Snapper mower there 3 years ago, and this past weekend, I took it back for service. Because it was the first time for me to bring it back for service, the oil change was free. AFTER 3 years, who does that? Great service! Great place! Go there, and you will not be disappointed.

Grateful for going the extra mile: I own a Yamaha GP 1200 that wouldn't stay running after it started. Took it to a Waverunner performance shop to get it fixed and they took it apart and recommended new carbs and new impeller. Felt like they were running the price up after many conversations just to sell me a new ski. Monclair Power Equipment helped me out and took all the parts previously disassembled and completely rebuilt the carbs at a fair price. The ski is running great and the shop really helped me out.

i give up, i will never go back. i tried & tried to no avail. because the owner is from my home town, i tried to give him business. i bought a chain saw, a $600 lawnmower, and spent over 1400 on having my motorcycle repaired. his words to me were, "when we are done working on your bike, you will have many years of riding ahead of you with no problems". i paid my bill when i picked it up, and went a total of 172 miles on the bike over an entire summer. it broke down on the road 5 times, it leaked gas on the engine, it wont start, they broke the choke and then said it came in that way, they punched a hole in my gas tank while trying to mount it on the bike (they had it welded but the weld did not hold, thus gas leaking on my engine), the final straw, the owner texted me "we did right by you" . he actually told me he would not stand behind his work because i sealed the tank myself. it was his employee who told me i could seal it myself and save money. i am not an idiot. my sealing job was not the problem, it might have been the hammering they did on the tank to try to get it back on the bike! i would sue them, but i dont have the time or the energy. i am out about 1400 bucks, they have lost a customer for life. my advice, take your bike to a bike mechanic or the dealer. it might cost more, but you will certainly be able to enjoy your bike for years to come. never again!

They do not return business calls. gave estimate for extra parts (snap on plastic covers) but did not mention labor charge for same more than TRIPLE the cost of parts. Owner not returned four phone calls to settle. Not pleased. Not pleased at all.

Great service. The guys at Montclair Powersports treated me very nice. Had the parts in stock for my Honda 1100 and I was out of there in about an hour. Would recommended.

don't trust this shop !. Don't trust this shop ! Ordered a chain saw and was aked for a 50% deposit . Delivery was promissed within 5 days. Delivery was postponed several times. After almost 2 month I contacted the manufacturer myself and was told that Montclair Power never placed an order. The shop refused to show any proof that the order was placed and even faked a phone call to the manufacturer in front of me.

Went to another dealer and got the saw in 1 business day.
