Excellent Experience. What a great experience we had for our anniversary. I frst went here for a business dinner which was great. We went for our anniversary and were happy to have the same wonderful experience. The food is excellent and a great value. Although they seem to have lowered the prices a bit, the portions and quality have stayed the same. The wine list is impressive as well. Apparently they have added some more reasonably priced bottles and you can also bring your own on Monday and Friday. We will return to do that soon. I highley reccomend the Tuna and also the sirloin, my husband said it was excellent. Dont miss the chocolate souffle either.
I can't overlook the horrible treatment that I experienced at The Grand Cafe in Morristown,NJ. Plus I don't want anyone to go through what I experienced. A little background on me, I am a 30 something business professional who holds a senior director position at my company. I love to go out and enjoy new and different eating establishments for business and personal use. You would think that The Grand Cafe would fit into the category of fine dinning which includes great food, service and courtesy. Not even close!
Today we were celebrating a very special occasion and I thought this place would be great to treat the guest of honor. Nothing out of the ordinary happened at the start of the night. When we got our food we thought everything looked good and began to eat. My food had no taste. The word bland doesn't even begin to describe the food I put into my mouth. I sat there for awhile and could not eat the food. Why would I eat something that tasted like card-board? Would you? I respectfully spoke to the waiter about it and then started the fiasco. He was less than apologetic, threw a menu at me and was completely rude and unprofessional. Needless to say, I didn't order anything else. I just wanted to get out of there. My guest was enjoying her food so I sat back and tried to ignore the horrible treatment that I just experienced. The host then came to the table and gave his apologies and asked if I would like something else and I said no thank you. He then began to argue with me that the fish was fresh and didn't understand why I didn't like it. As politely as I could I explained to him that it had no taste. We finished and got the bill. They CHARGED ME WITH THE UNEATEN, CARDBOARD TASTING FISH! I had enough and approached the host. He began to argue with me and I wasn't having it. I told him how horrible we were treated and how I didn't appreciate their unprofessional rude behavior. This establishment looks nice, but is far from the fine dinning experience. Don't go!
Why go anywhere else. Finally I found a restaurant that gets it. Excellent food, beautiful setting, professional service. My business brings me to restaurants all over the US and Europe, and The Grand Cafe is second to none. I was told about this place by a business associate. When I walked in I thought it was a new restaurant, I was surprised to see they have been in business for 26 years! Many of the same emploees from day one, that says something. I brought clients here who ended up bringing in thier wives a few weeks later. The matr'd remembered them and treated them like gold, which has helped me tremendously. If you have an important business meeting and want to ensure its success, go to The Grand Cafe, if you want to impress friends, go to The Grand Cafe. Try the warm lobster salad app. its a one of a kind, also the sauteed veal entree, the rackof lamb, or if they have it the dover sole (they do it right, not like some other spots) and you must have a soufle for dessert.
Fine Dining/BEST SERVICE. hands down the best FINE restaurant in the area, if not the entire state! Profestional waiters who have been in the business for the 254years +. I was told by the staff that this is their 25th year in the business. From my dinner party i hosted of 6 YOU CAN TELL! YOU GET WHAT YOU PAY FOR 100%.
wouldn't go again. We went here to celebrate a birthday. Yes, its beautiful inside, BUT, too small and too crowded. There were 3 of us and they stuck us in a small booth when the tables were emtpy, they seemed to be saving the tables for only 4 people. You are so close to the tables next to you, it seems they are eating with you too. They said on the phone they would make a "big thing" of our daughter's 22 birthday but they forgot and I had to remind them. Food was good but serivce wasn't good at all, partly because the place is so small I noticed the waiters walking into each other! We also felt the high bill was not worth it at all!!!! We would rather spend our hard earned money in a place that was worth it!!
