02. Halo-Halo(Mix-Mix). Halo-Halo is a Philippine dessert specialty perfect for tropical climate (and cold climate). Literally meaning "Mix-Mix" & dubbed by most Filipinos as the "Queen of Desserts," it is a blend of fruits & sweet preserves (i.e. sweet palm fruit, shredded coconut, jackfruit, red & white beans, coconut gelatin, sweet corn, leche flan & purple yam) w/ shaved ice & evaporated milk & a scoop of ice cream (Mango or Ube Ice Cream) on top. To eat Halo-halo, make sure to halo (mix) thoroughly before digging in. Mixing all the ingredients at the bottom without spilling the ice & ice cream off the glass is a skill that can only be honed by regular indulgence!
