Low prices and sleek, modern design draw shoppers to this interior decorating superstore.. In Short
Hopen, Malm, Aneboda-no, those are not suggestions to name your pet, but the Swedish names of IKEA's designer furnishings and decorative odds and ends. Created with a "one-way" layout in mind, shoppers weave through a labyrinth of seemingly endless showrooms stocked with equipment to creatively accessorize every room under the sun. With patrons ranging from groups of freshmen students looking to outfit their tiny dorms to entire families, the store offers a huge repertory of styles, patterns and colors for every unique taste. And speaking of tastes, the small restaurant just beyond the cashiers serves up traditional Swedish fare for those who worked up an appetite.

Bad Customer Service / Great Selection and Prices. IKEA is freaking huge. Especially for folks from Manhattan, bringing back large items is simply not doable without a car or some extra cash for delivery. Whats worse is they now charge for the most obscure things -- likes BAGs. Its best if you have your own bags to keep bringing back. What a pain.

Horrible Service!!!!. Delivered broken couch, never redelivered good couch as promised. Customer Service gave me a terrible run around, transfering me all over the country. No one had any answers, but offered illogical replies. I have never dealt with a less professional company, that was so poorly run, with employees that are completly untrained or just exceptionally stupid. Better to pay a few extra dollars and get items in good condition!

Great Products, Poor Delivery Service. IKEA has a huge selection of great products, but the customer service is very poor, especially the delivery service (which costs $100 by the way). I bought a wardrobe from them and 2 of 7 parts were missing and one was damaged. Once I got through to customer service on the phone, I had a hard time articulating my problem, because all of the parts and pieces have very similar names. Their response was simply to ask which pieces and parts I was missing and then tell me that someone would call me back within 48 hours. They said that the parts (which are in stock) that are missing that I have already paid for could take up to 2 weeks to deliver. In the meantime, I'm stuck with a half-built wardrobe with no shelves or drawers.

Inexpensive. For cheap functional furniture and household goods-this can't be beat. However, the shipping / delivery charge is outrageous. But I love taking the free bus, and have gotten my money's worth.

Love IKEA. Who doesn't love IKEA? It is perfect for the New Yorker who lives in a small apt. with many options for living in a small space. Be prepared to break out a wrench or a hammer because you will have to assemble the piece yourself! Worth the drive to New Jersey or Long Island. :)

Inexpensive prices for expensive tastes. Danish designed furniture and accessories at bargain prices. If you are looking for a clean, modern style, Ikea is the place to shop. Unfortunately you have to travel to Long Island or NJ to shop there, but it is worth it. Where else can you buy elegant looking vases and mirrors for $1.95?
