Don't dare bring your children!

I have been a customer at the Luggage Center for years and have spent hundreds of dollars on accessories and luggage there. I have always found that the owner is a bit domineering and strange, but always with lots of inventory to choose from, which is why I have returned time and again.

However, today (during the Summit Sidewalk Sale Event), he must have been having a terrible day because he essentially verbally attacked me for "not watching my children." First of all, trust me when I say that my kids were right next to me physically, and they were touching the children's suitcases, with their bright colors and designs. They weren't even rolling the suitcases. They were quiet and respectful. I had my cell phone in my hand and was finishing a brief, quiet, urgent phone call to my husband.

Well, the owner went absolutely ballistic and approached me and literally started yelling at me that I needed to get off the phone and watch my children. He was extremely sarcastic and insulting and said, "PEOPLE IN THIS TOWN WATCH THEIR CHILDREN! IF YOU HAVE AN EMERGENCY, THEN GO TO THE HOSPITAL! YOU'RE GOING TO HAVE HANG UP THE PHONE (by which time I already had)"

I was shocked, but I tried to appease him by saying, "Okay, okay." To which he screamed, "NO! NOT OKAY, NOT OKAY. GET OUT! JUST GET OUT!!"

As I was leaving, I gave an employee, who had witnessed to whole event, the shaving kit that I had intended to purchase. He lowered his head and said, "I'm sorry."

My children were, to say the least, bewildered and kept asking me what they did wrong. My eight-year-old daughter said,"Wow, Mom--we've never been kicked out of a store before!"

Not only did I have to go home empty-handed (I had gone all the way from Montclair), but I had to explain to my children why that man was so inappropriate.

So, the moral of the story is...don't go there with children, or you'll likely be thrown out!
