Dont waste your money. The service was horrible. Food was mediocre to poor. The prices are just too for what you receive on the plate (in terms of quality and quantity). Beer is the only thing I can recommend.

Excellent food and drink. Trap Rock has changed chefs many times since its beginning about 8 years ago. The new one is right on target. This is not a "pub", though the name is Brewery, that is because they make their own beer, which is available for takeout as well. It's very good, and during the holidays, they have special festive winter brews. The food is not burgers and fries by any means......it's great lobster spring rolls, crispy calamari salad and great fish and fresh raw bar selections. Steaks and sides are good and well priced for a steak house type of menu. The service has always been excellent at the bar or in the beautiful hunt club atmosphere, with trophies on the wall, roaring fires and cozy leather seats. Decor is really special. Funny, how the reviewer 2 down said it was noisy full of kids. THIS IS NOT A KIDS RESTAURANT, so don't think there are kids there. I have seen an infant once or twice, usually sleeping......but rarely kids. This group owns a few NJ restaurants, Huntley Tavern in Summit, Roots Steakhouse, Ciao and 3West in Basking Ridge. Trap Rock is by far our favorite.......high quality NYC entrees at NJ prices. No baseball caps allowed at the bar, thank goodness!

Trap Rock....bring the Advil. Trap Rock is great if your are looking for some tasty hops in a relaxed and quiet environment away from the riff raff of The Alley. The bar is basically dead every night of the year except the night before Thanksgiving where every Highlander seems to be coming out of the woodword. I myself have cut myself off from that night, once you hit 28 its time to turn in your membership. Your time is up. The beers taste great and any more than 3 you will be guaranteed a splitting headache in the morning. A Trap Rock bonus are the free apples waiting for you at the door upon your exit where I will always take one and fire it against the wall of Marcello's across the street.

Don't Bother. Over crowded, seats are too close together. Sat my husband and I in a corner next to a wall and 6 inches to the next table which had crying children and food strewn all over the floor. They would not change our seat, even though we had a reservation we were told the other tables also have "reservations". They brought out the wrong food, almost dumped it on my lap. Hostess was very condescending and snotty. Appetizer was cold. Save your money - don't bother. The only reason this place is crowded is because it's the only restaurant around.
